Do you like hamburgers? Meatballs? What about something somewhere in between? If you’ve wished for something like that, I have the perfect thing: Frickadellen – German Hamburgers. Frickadellen is like a hybrid between a hamburger and meatball, a bit like a smashed meatball. You can put them on buns or you can eat them plain with dipping sauce. I typically like ketchup with mine. For these particular ones, I made a special version of it, curry ketchup.
They are incredibly easy to make, flavorful and delicious! Plus they pair with just about anything else.
Frickadellen are relatively simple to make. You’ll need:
- 1 lb ground beef (we use 93% lean)
- 1 egg
- 1/4 diced onion
- 2 Tbsp parsley
- Pinch of Salt
- Pinch of Pepper
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl. Bring a frying pan up to medium heat and put a few tablespoons of oil in. Form the meat into thick patties and place inside the heated frying pan. Cook until the meat is completely done, roughly 7 minutes on each side. Take off the heat and serve on a bun, or plain with a couple of sides.
Good sauces for your Frickadellen: Honey mustard, ketchup, or curry ketchup.
