Need a little something inspired by Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day? This Irish Breakfast Tea Milkshake fits the bill! Tastes great in the morning with some green pancakes, or even more delicious after a dinner of corned beef and cabbage. And if you’re wondering why Americans think corned beef is Irish, well, the Smithsonian has something to say about that.
IRISH BREAKFAST TEA MILKSHAKE
- 4 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1 ¼ cups tea milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
To make the tea milk: Heat 1 1/4 cups of milk for 3 minutes in the microwave. Add two tea bags and let steep. Then put the milk in the fridge or freezer to cool. You can also simmer the milk over the stove if you prefer, just make sure to keep stirring.
Blend the vanilla ice cream, tea milk, and vanilla extract with immersion mixer in a small pitcher. Pour into individual glasses. This recipe makes two large servings or four small servings. You could also make it a little fancier with a dollop of homemade whipped cream or a wafer on top.
