With as many desserts as I make, homemade whipped cream is a staple in my fridge. It takes pies up a notch. It gives you a place for the sprinkles on your milkshake to rest. You can dip strawberries in it. The uses for whipped cream are endless. There are some brands over the counter that aren’t bad and are perfect in a pinch, but homemade is always better. You can control the sweetness level, you can decide how “whipped” you want it, and you can flavor it. It’s also incredibly easy to make as long as you have hand mixer or an immersion blender on hand.

HOMEMADE WHIPPED CREAM
You will need:
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Pour ingredients into a tall cup or a bowl with high sides – I just used the measuring cup that comes with my immersion blender for this one. Turn mixer on low and begin combining the ingredients. Once everything is combined, turn the mixer on high. If you’re using the immersion blender, pump the blender up and down to help incorporate air into your whipped cream. The mixture will begin to thicken, and then as more air combines it will begin to form waves. Continue mixing until you have soft peaks, and ta da! You just made your own whipped cream. Easy peasy!

Use it on a piece of key lime pie or in your coffee in the morning for an extra touch of creamy goodness.
