Summer means two things for me: Lemonade by the gallons and nectarines by the bushel. They are my two favorite summer foods. So I decided that the best thing I could possibly do would be to combine them into nectarine lemonade. Then I threw some raspberries in because well, I love those too. Deal with it.

Also, given that fruit is fresh this time of year I like taking the opportunity to make things fresh. Don’t get me wrong I have my store bought lemonade that I love and its perfectly tasty, but fresh-squeezed will always make it extra good.
NECTARINE LEMONADE:
For one pitcher you will need:
- 10 lemons (1 1/4 cups lemon juice)
- 6 nectarines (1 cup nectarine juice)
- 1 1/2 cups simple syrup
- 3 cups water
- Raspberries for garnish
Wash and dry the nectarines and lemons. Peel the skins and remove the seeds and pits and then send them through the juicer. You should have about 1 1/4 cups of lemon juice and 1 cup of nectarine juice.Toss the juice in your pitcher of choice and put it in the fridge.

Next you’ll need some simple syrup. If you don’t have any, get a pot heated on the skillet. Add in 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar. Heat and stir together until the water is clear. On a power burner this only takes about three minutes. Set aside and let it cool. I like to make this stuff in batches. I keep it cold in the fridge and bring it out as needed.
Add 1 1/2 cups of simple syrup to your pitcher of juice once the simple syrup has cooled down. Stir vigorously for a minute. Then add 3 cups of water. Toss in a handful of rinsed raspberries and another handful of ice. Boom. You just made nectarine-ade. If you want it to be pretty, add a couple slices of fruit to the side of your glass.

Refrigerate any leftovers for up to three days.
